“We had this lovely
dock party last summer, and it was a very
good time, on the water, with great food and
wonderful entertainment. We are repeating
it this year, thanks to the courtesy and
graciousness of the Giordano’s, and we would
love to see all the lovers of the arts
attend. We need community support and we
are very grateful for it.” Said Paul Somers,
President of Access.
“Christopher Kenniff is
an award winning classical guitarist, the
President of the American String Teachers
Association in N.J., first in his class at
Southern Methodist University, from where he
graduated magna cum laude, and received his
BM and MM in music, and holds a doctorate in
performance from Indiana University. He was
the winner of the Dallas String Teacher’s
award. He performs widely in the North
Jersey/New York metropolitan area. He was
the winner of first prize at the Concours de
Guitarre, in Quebec, a music festival; he
performed for the St. Louis Guitar
Association last year, and teaches at Kean
College where he is part of the artists’
affiliate program. At Kean, he also runs a
summer school for string players. We are
delighted to bring Chris to the area again,
for a relaxing evening of music and great
food.” said Somers..
“We are hoping to bring
Philadanco to the Middle Township PAC
on May l7th, 2008, God willing. That’s a
$30,000 event, so we need to fund raise to
make it happen. We appreciate any and all
support from the community as we continue
our tradition of bringing great art, music
and dance to Cape May County and environs.
Please come out and support our efforts.”
said Paul Somers, former music critic of the
Newark Star Ledger, and President of Access
to Art, Inc.
Access to Art has
presented Edward Villella’s Miami City
Ballet, NJ Ballet (3x), Martha Graham Dance
Company, North Carolina Dance Company,
Robert Battle’s Battleworks, Philadanco,
Carolyn Dorfman Dance Company, Paul Taylor’s
Taylor 2. This will be the llth dance
weekend including master classes for area
students and residents, lecture
demonstrations in the schools, and a full
performance. “These dance weekends are
wonderful, but very expensive, and we never
make what it costs to present. So we do
need the community’s help to continue to
bring quality work to our area in dance.”
said
Barbara Beitel, Access
to Art’s director.
“Philadanco was the
recipient of Dance Magazine’s award in
2006. They have performed at the Kennedy
Center, the Joyce in NYC, and across the
country and Europe.
They are a world class
company, right within our area, and we are
delighted at the prospect of having them
here for a second time. We had them five
years ago and they were brilliant.” Barbara
Beitel said.
Call (609) 465-3963 to
join us for an entertaining evening of
music, food, and fellowship on a dock in
Stone Harbor on September 28th.
