It is the third dinner at the restaurant
hosted by Access to Art, Inc., who feted
N.Y. dancer Robert Battle and his dancers
there two years ago, and last year Sam
Maitin’s family and friends, for their
Maitin Art, Conversation and music weekend.
The lovely restaurant with mahogany
furnishings, fine art, antique fixtures,
exquisite cuisine and superb service has a
great local and New Jersey reputation.
“Union Park does such a wonderful job with
the food. Chef John Schatz worked for many
Philadelphia and Cape May area fine
restaurants including the renowned
Restaurant Maureen. He is also a member of
the prestigious James Beard Foundation. The
ambience is very lovely as well, and the
dinner is an opportunity for people to
gather, break bread, and get to know each
other, which is something that Sam Maitin
wanted to be part of every event.” said
Barbara Beitel, Access to Art, Inc.
Director. We are honoring him at the dance
this year with two films, one a documentary
by Craig Rinkerman, and the other a dance
short by Susannah Newman, both celebrating
Maitin’s art and life. He wanted people to
get to know the artists, to befriend them,
and to understand what it was they were
doing. He always said: “Artists put on their
pants, one leg at a time. They have
families, friends, lives. He wanted to share
that.” Beitel said. Jennie McCaney,
Secretary of Access to Art, is chairing the
event. Her phone number for an invitation is
(609) 884-l9l4.
“People may wear cocktail clothes, or if
they wish, black tie.” Beitel said.
You may call Jennie at 884-1914 to
reserve your tickets. Tickets may be made
out to Access to Art, Inc.
The menu for May 5th includes a Cheese
